PAINTED PROTOTYPE - Game of Thrones Jon Snow for McFarlane Toys

6" figure
Photographed by Jess Talos; art direction by Ed Frank, Andy Frank, and Mike Gulen.
Sad Jon Snow.
I'm pleased with how the leather jerkin turned out, I painted a dark black-blue base with a heavy gloss, then used a strong dark-umber wash. It left a satin effect that wasn't overpowering, and the mix of cool blue and warm brown was a cheap way to mimic the tones of black leather.
His portrait was an interesting challenge. There was another printing error with our copy, and his face was very narrow. I hid that as best I could by bringing his hairline down and pushing it back on the sides. But that should all be fixed in production.
